Microsoft Introduces Black Screens for Pirated Windows OS Users

To stop the spread of users running fake or pirated Windows OS copies, Microsoft did an update on their Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) software. Microsoft, the American multinational computer technology company, plans on making their operating system even more difficult to run for users running non-genuine copies of Windows.

Changes to the current software include replacing the desktop wallpaper with a black screen every 60 minutes and permanently displaying a message warning that the user is running a pirated OS. The changes are being rolled out on the most commonly used pirated Windows OS, the Windows XP Professional.

According to Alex Kochis, director of the Genuine Windows program at Microsoft:
I’m excited about how this release balances our goals of providing a great experience to those who have genuine Windows, and at the same time, creating a compelling experience for those who have non-genuine copies to get genuine Windows.

This new development from Microsoft will surely help in stopping the rampant spread of software piracy. But I guess somehow pirates will always find a way in breaking these restrictions.
