Ice Cream Sandwich was first announced in May at Google’s annual I/O event and the search giant had been pretty quiet about it until the launch event for the Galaxy Nexus cell phone was held in Hong Kong in October. There, Google debuted the new features for ICS that seek to merge the powerful capabilities of the tablet-designed Honeycomb with the compact portability of the phone-designed Gingerbread. The result of the marriage is a truly unique operating system that seeks to end phone and tablet fragmentation once and for all.
